Snow Bike Riders Get Ready To Earn Your Spot At Winter X Games

Earlier this week ESPN X Games announced the first wave of invited athletes to compete at the Winter X Games 2018 events which include those who earned medals in last year’s events. The Snow BikeCross competition was so popular last year that ESPN has decided to add a new snow bike category for 2018: Best trick. With only three spots filled, the race is on for those looking to qualify to earn a spot at this year’s games.

Just like last year a pre-qualifying event is going to be held for all interested riders in the snow bike category. According to Danny Chi, with ESPN communications, “our snowmobile/snow bike sport organizer is staging a Snow BikeCross qualifier in December for the Aspen event, and we welcome all racers who have the skills to come out and race. While a date has not been announced for the prequalified, we can tell you that the competition will likely be fierce. Last year 150 riders registered for the X Games prequalified and only 8 spots were available. Watch videos from last year on our YouTube chancel including what the practice track looked like and the final race.

Interested in competing this year? Here are a few things to know in advance: only naturally aspirated engines are allowed. They use standard AMA rules which means no Turbos, Nitrous or other performance enhancing devices can be used. Tracks are also limited to the design or length originally sold by OEM snowbike manufactures. The official rules for this year’s pre-qualifier have not been released but we don’t expect them to change much from the ones last year.

Raze Motorsports Sponsored Rider Automatically Invited

In 2017, we sponsored several top snow bike athletes at the Winter X Games including Cody Matechuk who received a bronze medal in the Snow BikeCross category. We are excited to see him compete at the 2018 games. Matechuk will be running our Wingman Kit on his Yamaha YZ450F.  Watch this short video to hear about the benefits of running our snow bike ECU.
